Access Points

How do I get to an access point?
Remember, we are a Hike in / Hike out camping resort. There is no overnight parking at any of the trailhead access points.

For Access point 1, 2, or 3 The easiest way to access the campground is to take the Metro North Hudson Line to the Beacon train station. If arriving by car, you can park at the Beacon train station free on weekends or park in one of Beacon's municipal parking lots. Our shuttle will then take you to the trailhead of your choice.

While you enjoy your hike in, we will take your gear to your campsite. Please, limit gear to one duffle bag or backpack and one sleeping bag per person and one cooler per site.

For Access point 4 take the Metro North Hudson Line to the Breakneck trainstop. Your hike begins there.

Access Point 1 is the Red Overlook trail head. This trail starts at the end of Sunnyside Road in Beacon Hills. This is the easiest entry if you are just hiking over to visit the campground or checking in late in the day.
Hiking time is about 30 minutes.

Hiking time is about 2 ½ hours.
Access Point 3 is the Old Incline Trail. This is a nice early morning hike which has a lot of nice views. From this trailhead there are a couple of different trails to reach the campground. Do not attempt this hike without a trail map.
Hiking time depending on the trail is 3 to 5 hours.
Access Point 4 is the Breakneck trail head on Route 9D. This is an all day hike. Check your train schedule because Metro North has scheduled stops for this trail head and only runs on weekends. You must carry all your gear in. There is no shuttle to this trail head.
